Sitwise is used by children, so it is built to collect as little as it can. This page describes what the software actually does.
There is no tracking of any kind
Sitwise contains no analytics, no advertising software, no social media buttons and no third-party trackers. Nothing you or your child does in the app is measured for us or sold to anybody. This site sets no cookies.
What we hold
- Your email address. The account is yours, not your child's. There is no password: you sign in with a six-digit code, so there is nothing to leak or reset.
- Practice results. Which question was attempted, which option was chosen, whether it was right, how long it took and when. This is what the Progress screen is drawn from.
- What you have bought. Which packs your account may open, and whether a purchase is active or refunded. If you pay before you have an account, we hold the email address on your payment and the transaction reference until the pack is attached to an account, so that we can match the two up.
- Sign-ins. One record per device you sign in on, used to limit an account to six devices.
- Marketing consent, only if you tick the box: whether you said yes or no, when, and on which screen. Absent means no consent, and we do not email you.
We never ask for your child's name, date of birth, school or photograph, and there is nowhere in the app to enter them.
Written answers stay on the device
Where a paper asks for a piece of writing, that writing is kept on the device your child typed it on and is never sent to us. Our database cannot store it: a written question records only the marking criteria you and your child tick off together. An essay is not something to put on somebody else's computer unasked.
Who else is involved
- Supabase hosts the database. It is in the United Kingdom (London, AWS eu-west-2), so nothing about your child is stored outside the UK.
- Resend sends the sign-in codes and anything else we email you. They handle your email address to deliver the message and nothing else.
- PayPal takes the payment when you buy a pack on this website. We never see your card details. They give us the email address your PayPal account is registered on, which is how we know where to send your code.
- Cloudflare serves the app and this website.
Deleting everything
Open the Account screen in the app and choose Delete your account, or email [email protected] from the address you signed up with. It removes the account, every practice result and any pack bought on it, permanently. See deleting your account.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Write to [email protected]. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
